MICHAEL'S BIO

Born in Michigan and later moving to West TN at a young age, Michael played a variety of sports growing up. After excelling and lettering in 4 sports all while maintaining a high level of study in the classroom during high school, Michael received both athletic and academic scholarships. He would go on the play baseball and football at Lambuth University where he would receive national honors both athletically and academically.
After college, Michael would continue to excel in sports where he would perform well for several NFL teams’ private workouts, specifically the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite his best efforts, Michael would fall just short of his dream of playing in the NFL and land with the Arena Football League’s Memphis Xplorers. This is also when Michael began his journey in training other athletes from high school up to elite level athletes trying to make it to the professional level. While he enjoyed playing at an elite level, his joy for watching others chase their dreams and succeed gave him much more joy and fulfillment.
After stepping away from football permanently, Michael began to press into the running world and eventually started competing in races of varying distances. He also took up outdoor rock climbing after stumbling across the sport in southern Illinois. When Michael wasn’t training or helping others train, he could often be found climbing at Garden of the Gods Illinois (before he realized climbing was not permitted at GOTG!)
While running and rock climbing were great escapes for Michael, it wouldn’t be until several years later that he really pressed into the sports to test the limits of his ability. Michael tried his hand at the half-marathon and marathon distances after winning several 5K's and one 10K. Eventually he would go on to run ultramarathons up 100 miles and compete in several OCRs (Obstacle Course Races). He found the 50K and 50-mile distances to be his favorites.
After just a year and a half of intentional training, Michael grew quickly as a rock climber as well. He was able to send his first outdoor V10 and redpoint his first 5.13.
Michael continues to grow as climber as he has now sent an outdoors V11.
